University of Pittsburgh - Strength and Conditioning

2019 SUMMER CAMP

**Camp will only be conducted with 15 or more participants. If the minimum amount of sign-ups is not reached, we will send a notice 2 weeks before the start of camp.

Currently there are no upcoming events. Check back soon!

This three-day camp combines basic weight room training modalities and techniques along with speed, agility, and conditioning drills to minimize the risk of injury and enhance athletic performance.  While maintaining a low coach-athlete ratio, we will provide athletes with high levels of specific instruction with high levels of energy.

Day one teaches athletes how to properly move through a full range of motion and across all planes of movement performing basic resistance training exercises, such as clean pulls, squat variations, and deadlift variations.

Day two athletes revisit the weight room before moving out to the turf to learn correct speed mechanics and change of direction.

Day three athletes will use their learned skills and compete in various challenges and competitions.

**This is a day camp only, so no overnight accommodations will be provided. Campers are responsible for providing their own overnight accommodations, if needed.

OPTIONAL ADD-ONS
Sparta Science Technology: $10.00
Sparta Science technology is a software that utilizes force plate data to determine how well you generate, transfer, and apply force.  Based on your Sparta movement signature from series of jump and balance tests, we can determine areas of weakness and in turn guide your training program in a way to enhance your performance and reduce the risk of injury.

  • What? An 8 min jump and balance test utilizing a force plate that measures and optimizes human performance.
  • Why? Data allows us to minimize injury risk, and safely speed recovery when there is an injury.

Functional Movement Screen (FMS): $15.00
The FMS Screen consists of seven movements to detect imbalances and asymmetries.  In general, any imbalance is unnecessary strain on the affected joint(s), which in sport can lead to a greater risk injury if not addressed.  What may start as “tightness” or “discomfort” can become a major injury if it is not pre-habilated properly. By partaking in the FMS Screen, we will be able to program you individualized exercises to not just increase your strength, but also optimize your movement.

  • What? A 7 test movement screen to pinpoint and gauge movement limitations and deficiencies.
  • Why? Optimize training opportunities and make actionable steps to enhance movement.

Both Sparta Science Technology AND Functional Movement Screen (FMS): $20.00
